Joyce Elizabeth Jones  graduated magna cum laude from the University of Baltimore School of Law where she was an Editor of Law Review; inducted into the Heusler Honor Society (distinction for graduating in the top 10% of her class); and served as a teaching assistant and the Supervising Teaching Assistant for Legal Analysis, Research, and Writing.  Prior to her graduation from law school, Ms. Jones was granted early entry to the Maryland Bar to serve as a Rule 16 Prosecutor for Anne Arundel County.  Immediately upon graduation, Ms. Jones served as an Appellate Law Clerk for the Honorable James P. Salmon of the Maryland Court of Special Appeals and as an associate professor at Anne Arundel Community College, teaching in the paralegal studies and criminal justice programs.  Upon completion of her appellate clerkship, Ms. Jones practiced insurance defense until she made the decision to switch sides and become a plaintiff's attorney.  In addition to handling personal injury and workers' compensation cases and appeals, Ms. Jones heads up the criminal defense, medical malpractice, and mediation departments of the firm.  Ms. Jones' experience on both sides of the courtroom have given her a unique perspective many other attorneys do not have.

Ms. Jones has been involved with the fire department since 1990, having formerly been a volunteer in Prince George's County, Maryland and working for the Montgomery County Career Fire Fighters Association prior to law school.  Ms. Jones is married to a career fire fighter, who is a Division Chief in Montgomery County, Maryland and a volunteer fire fighter in Queen Anne's County, Maryland, where their two sons are also members of the volunteer department.  Through her association with the fire service, Ms. Jones has a personal knowledge of the issues facing fire fighters, and uses that knowledge to help fire fighters and other public safety personnel when they experience work-related injuries, employment issues, or internal affairs investigations.

Ms. Jones was named as one of Maryland Super Lawyers Rising Stars in 2014 and again in 2015.
